The leading cause of disability in the United States, arthritis is affecting men, women and children at unprecedented rates. The Arthritis Foundation leads the way for arthritis patients by improving their quality of life through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and joint-related diseases. Our efforts in the Ohio River Valley Chapter area include public health, public policy and research to directly serve those affected by arthritis. |
The Arthritis Foundation serves over 5,900 participants through Life Improvement Series classes that include water and land-based exercise programs, tai-chi classes, self-help courses and support groups. Arthritis 101 Educational sessions, healthcare literature, an extensive resource website and a monthly magazine are among the many resources we provide the public along with continuing education opportunities for physicians and health professionals.
The Arthritis Foundation coordinates over 300 advocates throughout the region to help promote funding for arthritis research, programs and education. Advocates help educate government representatives on legislation affecting people with arthritis, as well as inform the public on arthritis-related issues.
The Arthritis Foundation is the world’s largest non-profit funding resource for arthritis research.
